Are you ready to get rid of your Christmas tree? Bring One for the Chipper! The 29th annual Bring One for the Chipper event will take place on Saturday from 10 am until noon in the parking lot of Home Depot, 103 Hicks Drive in Rome.
The event is spearheaded by Keep Georgia Beautiful and is conducted locally by Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful. Emma Wells, KRFB Director, indicates that willow oak and dogwood seedlings will be given to participants in exchange for their trees, courtesy of the Georgia Forestry Commission. Seeds will also be available. Trees may be dropped off at the Home Depot parking lot before the event (if you are unable to make it on Saturday morning).
Trees will either be chipped into mulch or used as fish habitats. Wells attests that almost 185 trees were recycled locally in 2019.
