LUMSDEN WILL CHAIR HOUSE INSURANCE COMMITTEE DURING 2020 LEGISLATIVE SESSION

Day one of the 2020 legislative session is one week from today. The Georgia General Assembly will open their session “under the Gold Dome” at the State Capitol in Atlanta on Monday, January 13th.

Eddie Lumsden, Representative for Georgia’s 12th District in the state House of Representatives, will have a slightly different focus in 2020 as he has been named the Chairman of the House Insurance Committee.  He is the successor to Richard Smith, who was selected to serve as Chairman of the House Rules Committee upon the death of Jay Powell.  This will mark the eighth year that Lumsden has served on the insurance committee.

During this legislative session, Lumsden asserts that he will work with fellow state legislators to make Georgia the kind of place in which residents can start their businesses and raise their families.

Lumsden, along with his wife Teresa, owns and operates the Teresa Lumsden State Farm Insurance Agency in Armuchee.  He is a retired state trooper and a former member of the Floyd County Commission.  His 12th District covers all of Chattooga County and part of Floyd County.
