KEEP ROME-FLOYD BEAUTIFUL HAS HIT THE GROUND RUNNING IN 2020

Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful has hit the ground running with their mission to clean up the community in 2020.

Emma Wells, KRFB Director, says that her organization’s first major clean up event for the year will be the MLK Service Day Cleanup on Monday, January 20th from 9 am to noon at Armuchee Creek. Berry College students will pitch in a helping hand on this day of service which is intended to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Information about the MLK Service Day Cleanup may be obtained from the event’s Facebook page.

KRFB will observe Arbor Day 2020 on Friday, February 21st.  This will mark Rome’s 30th year as a Tree City USA, states Wells.  A Facebook page has also been established for that event.

Wells urges Rome and Floyd County residents to stay tuned for details about special events slated for April 2020; volunteers will be needed for all of these efforts. Updates will posted on Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful’s newly upgraded website, www.keepromefloydbeautiful.org.

KRFB kicked off the year with the 29th annual Bring One for the Chipper this past Saturday.  This Christmas tree recycling program is an initiative of Keep Georgia Beautiful.

Here is another way to lend your helping hand towards efforts to beautify the  community:  The Rome-Floyd Recycling Center has scheduled a Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Event for Saturday, January 18th.  This event will be held from 9 am to 3 pm at the center, 412 Lavender Drive in west Rome.  Items to be accepted include liquids such as used motor oils, paint, herbicides and pesticides, along with computers, televisions, recorders and any peripheral equipment, according to Michael Skeen, Floyd County’s Public Works Director.  You must make an appointment in advance by calling the Rome-Floyd Recycling Center at (706) 291-5266.  This recycling event is open to Rome and Floyd County residents only.
