The Atlanta Hawks fell to the Toronto Raptors 122-117 on Monday afternoon in an MLK Day Game at State Farm Arena. This was the second straight loss for Atlanta and fourth win in a row for Toronto. It also allowed the defending NBA-champion Raptors to take a 2-0 lead in the four-game season set among the teams.
Trae Young notched a game-high 42 points for the Hawks, who held a 60-57 lead at halftime and gave the Raptors a run for their money during the second half. Young also contributed 15 assists. John Collins added 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Norman Powell scored a team-high 27 points for the Raptors, who remain in first place of the Atlantic Division in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.
Atlanta is now 10-34 on the season, just slightly better than the league-worst record of 10-35 held by the Golden State Warriors. The Hawks will conclude a three-game homestand with a match against the LA Clippers on Wednesday night at 7:30 pm.
