The Atlanta Hawks beat the Philadephia 76ers 127-117 on Thursday evening at State Farm Arena, allowing the Hawks to even the four-game season series between the teams at 1-1.
All-Star Trae Young led the charge for Atlanta with a game-high 39 points to go with a career-high of 18 assists. John Collins contributed 17 points, along with a season-high 20 rebounds.
Joel Embiid, who will join Young as an Eastern Conference starter in the ’20 NBA All-Star Game, scored 21 points and had 14 rebounds for Philadelphia. Ben Simmons, who has been selected as an All-Star reserve, led the 76ers in scoring with 31 points.
Atlanta improved to 13-36 with their win and is now in a three-way tie with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks for last place in the NBA’s Eastern Conference. The Hawks will return to action on Saturday evening in Dallas, TX versus the Mavericks; tip off is set for 8:30 pm Eastern.
