The Atlanta Hawks beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 127-120 at Minnesota on Wednesday night. It allowed the Hawks to snap a two-game losing streak, extended the Timberwolves’ current losing skid to 13 straight games, and led to a 1-1 split in the two-game season series between the teams. Both of those teams were impacted by a four team, 12-player trade that happened earlier in the day, via which the Hawks gained Clint Capela from the Houston Rockets and the T’wolves lost Robert Covington to Houston.
Trae Young led the charge for the Hawks with 38 points and 11 assists. John Collins added 27 points and 12 rebounds.
Andrew Wiggins led the T’wolves in scoring with 25 points. Former Georgia Tech standout Josh Okogie had 23 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns scored 21 points.
The Hawks improved to 14-38 on the season. They will be in Boston to take on the Celtics on Friday night; tip off is set for 7:30 pm.
Atlanta made another trade during Wednesday night’s game which sent Jabari Parker and Alex Len to Sacramento in exchange for Dewayne Dedmon and a pair of second-round draft picks; Dedmon played for the Hawks from 2017 to 2019. The NBA’s trade deadline is this afternoon at 3 pm.
