FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for North Georgia, including Floyd County, through 7 pm tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

Rome City Schools and Floyd County Schools have opted to delay opening by two hours today due to the weather, as has Darlington School. Campuses of Georgia Northwestern Technical College will delay opening until 10 am, as will Georgia Highlands College’s locations in Floyd County, Heritage Hall and Cartersville.

Just under two and a half inches of rain fell at the Russell Regional Airport in Rome from early Monday morning through early this morning.
