ADOPTIONS HAVE BEEN STEADY SO FAR THIS YEAR FOR FLOYD COUNTY PUBLIC ANIMAL WELFARE SERVICES

Adoptions have been steady so far this year at Floyd County Public Animal Welfare Services (PAWS), according to Jeff Mitchell, Director. Last month, 154 animals were adopted and 170 were transported to shelters elsewhere in the US. However, asserts Mitchell, as soon as animals are adopted out, even more are brought into PAWS.

Mitchell adds that there are not enough adopters in Floyd County to adopt the host of animals available at PAWS. Rescue groups are called upon to transfer some animals to other locations in order to increase their chances of finding a forever home; this is PAWS’ alternative to euthanasia, says Mitchell.

Are you ready to adopt a cat or dog? Mitchell urges you to view the selection at Floyd County PAWS, located at 99 North Avenue. Their hours are 9 am to 5 pm each Monday through Friday and 1 pm to 5 pm on Saturdays. For more information, call (706) 236-4537 or locate Public Animal Welfare Services on Facebook.

Floyd County PAWS will benefit from a Spirit Night at Chicken Salad Chick tonight. The restaurant will donate 10 percent of its sales from 5 pm to 8 pm to PAWS. PAWS will return with furbabies for on-site adoptions at Chicken Salad Chick this Saturday.
