CONCERNS OVER POTENTIAL FOR BLACK ICE HAS LED TO SOME CLOSURES, DELAYS

There are a number of closures and delays for today due to concerns over the potential for black ice overnight.

Floyd County Schools will observe a Digital Learning Day. The Rome City Schools are closed today; teachers will be in touch with parents and students regarding assignments via School Status and Google Classroom. Darlington School is closed today; a decision will be made by noon today about all after school activities.

All campuses of Georgia Northwestern Technical College will delay opening until 10 am today, as will all Georgia Highlands College campuses.

Floyd County administrative offices will delay opening until 10 am today. All grand jurors should report for duty at 10 am; regular jurors are asked to report at 10:30 am, but they should call the message line prior to reporting to obtain updated information.

City of Rome administrative offices will open 10 am this morning. The Rome Transit Department will delay the start of bus service. Bus routes will depart from the transit station for the first run at 9:30 am.

The Floyd County and Polk County Health Departments will delay opening until 10 am, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District.
