GET READY TO GO GREEN AT ANNUAL LEPRECHAUN-A-THON

Registration continues for the annual Harbin Clinic Leprechaun-A-Thon 5K run and two-mile health walk, scheduled for Saturday, March 14th.

The event will once again feature a flat, fast course around downtown Rome that will lead to a foam-filled celebration on the Town Green. Jim Alred, the Recreation Services Manager at Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation, enthuses that beverage steins will be awarded to all winners in a ceremony that will be held upon the conclusion of the race.

Last year, more than 1,800 participants registered and either walked or ran in the Leprechaun-A-Thon.

Pre-registration is available at the parks and rec office, 1 Shorter Avenue, and online at www.rfpra.com at a cost of $25 for the 5K run and $20 for the walk until March 9th at 11 pm. Race day registration will be available for a cost of $35 for both the run and walk.

The proceeds from this event will benefit Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation’s Active Adult programs.

The chip-timed 5K will begin at 7 pm; the walk will begin five minutes later. A costume contest will be held at 6:15 pm, from which participants may win prizes for their best green, glowing attire.

Sarah Tuck, Senior Director of Marketing for the Harbin Clinic, says that she looks forward to this family-friendly event that will kick off St. Patrick’s Day festivities for many.

The 5K is a qualifier for the Peachtree Road Race. For more information on the Leprechaun-A-Thon, again, visit www.rfpra.com.
