FLOYD COUNTY IS IN PRETTY GOOD SHAPE, ACCORDING TO THE COUNTY MANAGER

Floyd County is in pretty good shape right now, according to Jamie McCord, County Manager. Improvements in the local economy have provided a boost to county operations. Sales tax grew by nine percent and the tax digest grew by about two and a half percent in 2019, asserts McCord.

The downside to the uptick in the economy, adds McCord, is that it is hard to find workers to take county jobs, as the private sector often has more to offer its employees (such as higher pay and overtime).

McCord asserts that overall, 2019 was a good year. He hopes for continued growth this year.
