AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES HAVE DROPPED BY FIVE CENTS IN THE PAST WEEK

Gas prices in Georgia have dropped by five cents over the past week, reports AAA, The Auto Club Group. Motorists statewide are now paying an average of $2.25 per gallon of regular unleaded. That’s five cents less than last week, five cents less than last month and four cents less than last year.

It now costs $33.75 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that’s $7.35 less than what motorists paid in April of 2019, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.74 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, AAA Spokeswoman, states, “Gas prices are less expensive on the week across the South and Southeast states. Healthy stock levels and cheaper crude prices have alleviated pump price pains.”

However, according to Waiters, “The upcoming switchover to summer blend could break the downward trend in the coming weeks; we are also watching the impact of the coronavirus and what it could do to gasoline demand.”

Sunday’s national average of $2.43 was four cents less than a week ago, four cents less than a month ago and a cent more than the same time last year.
