CHIEFTAINS DIRECTOR PROMOTES SEED SWAP, MEMBERSHIP

The Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home in Rome will host the 7th annual Floyd County Seed Swap, along with a Family Free Day, on Saturday, March 7th. Activities will take place on the grounds of the museum at 501 Riverside Parkway from 11 am until 2 pm. The event is co-sponsored by Chieftains, as well as the Berry College Department of Environmental Science and Studies, Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful, the Davies Homeless Shelters, Rome Federated Garden Clubs, and Floyd County Master Gardener Extension Volunteers.

In addition to promoting the Seed Swap, Heather Shores, Executive Director, is encouraging membership to the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home. It is a way, she says, to preserve history for generations to come. Memberships start at $20 for students.

The designation of the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home as a National Historic Landmark is not accompanied by federal funding, adds Shores, who says that the museum is completely self-sustaining. Memberships, as well as paid admission and donations, support museum operations.
