AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES HAVE DROPPED BY FIVE CENTS IN THE PAST WEEK

Georgia’s gas prices have decreased by five cents over the past week, reports AAA, The Auto Club Group. Motorists statewide now pay the average price of $2.21 per gallon of regular unleaded. That’s five cents less than last week, six cents less than last month, and 15 cents less than this time last year.

It now costs $33.15 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline. That’s $7.95 less than what motorists paid in April of 2019, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.74 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA, indicates, “Pump prices are likely to decrease through the end of the winter driving season, especially amid the concerns about the coronavirus causing the price of crude to decline.”

However, attests Waiters, “The current refinery maintenance season could put pressure on regional refinery utilization, supply and gas prices during the run-up to the spring driving season.”

Sunday’s national average of $2.38 a gallon of regular unleaded was six cents less than last week, six cents less than a month ago, and eight cents less than this time last year.
