The Atlanta Hawks emerged victorious over the Charlotte Hornets 143-138 in double overtime on Monday night at State Farm Arena. It allowed the Hawks to snap a three-game losing skid and take a 2-0 lead in their four-game season series against Charlotte.
Trae Young notched a team-high 31 points and 16 assists for the Hawks. John Collins had 28 points and 11 rebounds. Cam Reddish added 22 points off the bench. DeAndre Hunter contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Terry Rozier scored a career-high 40 points for the Hornets in the bout among rivals in the Southeast Division of the NBA’s Eastern Conference.
Atlanta improved to 20-46 for this season and is no longer in last place of the Eastern Conference – that distinction is now held by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Hawks will remain at home to host the New York Knicks on Wednesday night; tip off is set for 7:30 pm.
