FLOYD EMA, NWGA PUBLIC HEALTH EDUCATE OFFICIALS (AND THE COMMUNITY) ON LOCAL COVID-19 RESPONSE

The Floyd County Emergency Management Agency has teamed up with the Georgia Department of Public Health, Northwest Health District, this week to inform city and county officials on COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Tim Herrington, Floyd EMA Director, says that this is not necessarily a time to panic, but it is a time to prepare.

Herrington urges the public to follow DPH and CDC guidelines to wash your hands frequently, avoid close contact with those who are sick (and potentially contaminated surfaces), and stay at home if you are sick.

Local emergency management and health officials are using the community’s 2006 plan for pandemic flu as a template for the emergency response plan for COVID-19 (with updates) in the event of an outbreak, indicates Herrington.
