The Selective Enforcement Unit of the Rome Police Department held a press conference on Thursday evening to share details about efforts to keep drivers safer on local roads.
Captain Chris DeHart says that the RPD has prioritized education and public information, in addition to enforcement.
Local law enforcement officers are primarily focused on occupant protection, distracted driving, speeding, and impaired drivers.
Yearly traffic reports were shared during the conference. In addition, officers were recognized for their achievements in public safety. The list of winners is as follows:
