EVEN VETERINARIANS IMPACTED BY A SHORTAGE OF SUPPLIES DUE TO COVID-19

Even veterinarians are impacted by a shortage of supplies due to COVID-19. Dr. Dan Pate, owner of the West Rome Animal Clinic, attests that he has had a difficult time finding masks in recent days. Supplies such as drapes, masks, fluids, I.V.s, and gloves are in demand for human health care; Dr. Pate asserts that veterinary offices have had to adjust accordingly.

Dr. Pate adds that, for the most part, it has been ‘business as usual’ at the West Rome Animal Clinic, though he and his staff remain vigilant in maintaining a clean environment.

And did you know that there is also a coronavirus which can affect dogs? Dr. Pate indicates that the symptoms of canine coronavirus are similar to those of the parvovirus, such as vomiting, diarrhea and lethargy. Canine coronavirus is highly contagious among dogs, though it cannot be transmitted to humans.
