NWGA CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS SEEKS BLOOD DONATIONS AMID SHORTAGE DUE TO CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK

The American Red Cross is in the midst of a severe blood shortage because of the unprecedented number of blood drive cancellations in response to the coronavirus outbreak. Healthy individuals are encouraged to donate now to help patients in need.

A Rome Community Blood Drive is underway at the Red Cross’ Northwest Georgia chapter headquarters, 112 John Maddox Drive. It is taking place on weekdays from 9 am until 7 pm through next Friday, March 27th. Those who would like to donate must make an appointment to do so at www.redcross.org by using the sponsor code: ROME, by calling 1-800-RED CROSS or via the Red Cross Blood Donor app.

More information about the blood drive process, as well as an outline of who is eligible to donate, may be found on the website. Every blood donation can save up to three lives, according to a Red Cross media release.
