TESTING FOR COVID-19 IS MORE READILY AVAILABLE, THOUGH NOT EVERYONE CAN BE TESTED

Tests for COVID-19 (coronavirus) are more readily available in Georgia than they were last week, according to Logan Boss, Public Information Officer for the Georgia Department of Public Health, Northwest Health District. Testing capacity has increased, though not enough that just any person may be tested. Boss states that the tests are administered upon physician recommendation.

There is some good news – most of the people who develop COVID-19 will have mild symptoms and will not be afflicted by serious illness, says Boss.

The only way to know for sure if you have COVID-19 is to take the test, adds Boss. If you exhibit symptoms of the illness, such as shortness of breath or a fever, contact your healthcare provider.

For additional information about COVID-19 (coronavirus), visit the Georgia Department of Public Health online, www.dph.georgia.gov, or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website at www.cdc.gov.

Testing sites have been established in Rome and Northwest Georgia for those who are eligible to take the test.
