HERE’S SOMETHING TO DO WHILE YOU ARE SOCIAL DISTANCING – RESPOND TO THE 2020 CENSUS!

Here’s an important task that you may tackle while you’re social distancing – respond to the 2020 Census!

Mandy Maloney, a Partnership Specialist for the US Census Bureau in Floyd and Chattooga Counties, states that all Americans may take the Census online or by phone. The 2020 Census is still happening, in spite of concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.

Invitations to participate in this year’s Census were mailed earlier this month. Many Americans have already responded.

Maloney indicates that the Bureau will tweak operations as needed to protect its workers and the public during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Census numbers are used to determine things like federal and state funding, asserts Maloney. This has a significant impact on communities such as Rome and Floyd County.

Data from the Census is additionally used to determine how many seats each state has in the US House of Representatives.

The US Census has been conducted every 10 years ever since 1790. Get more information (and fill out your Census form) online at www.2020census.gov.
