CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASES INCREASE STATEWIDE; KEMP TO PARTICIPATE IN TOWN HALL THIS EVENING

The Georgia Department of Public Health has reported that there were a total of 1,387 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (or coronavirus) statewide as of 7 pm on Wednesday evening. Fourteen of those cases were in Floyd County. There have now been 47 fatalities in Georgia due to coronavirus. The counties with the highest numbers of cases include Fulton (204), DeKalb (125), Dougherty (123), Cobb (109), and Bartow (82).

The DPH updates the COVID-19 daily status report twice daily, at noon and again at 7 pm, in order to provide the most current numbers available. It may be viewed online at www.dph.georgia.gov.

Governor Brian Kemp will participate in a live Town Hall this evening about Georgia’s response to the spread of COVID-19. Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, DPH Commissioner Dr. Kathleen Toomey, the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency’s Director Homer Bryson, and Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John King will additionally participate. The hour-long session will start at 8 pm and will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM.
