UGA EXTENSION: CLEAN YOUR HOUSE, AVOID THE STORES!

Many homes are getting a deep clean these days due to the threat of COVID-19. Keith Mickler, UGA Extension Agent for Floyd County, offers words of advice to locals who want to fully sanitize their living space – read the labels on the backs of your household cleaning products. And follow the directions! Sanitization requires a little more time and effort than merely wiping the dust off of any given surface, indicates Mickler, who adds that he really hopes that this coronavirus crisis ends soon.

The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension offers resources about the coronavirus online at www.ugaextension.org.

Mickler also advises lawn and garden enthusiasts who may be running out of supplies to think twice before heading out to the home improvement store. It is far wiser to avoid potentially crowded spaces at this time.

Gardeners who wish to pass long periods of time at home by planting flowers and herbs are encouraged by Mickler to take advantage of sales that are being held online this year by local organizations, such as the Chieftains Museum’s annual Herb and Plant Sale (for which sales end on Friday).
