FEDERAL UNEMPLOYMENT AID IS ON THE WAY FOR GEORGIANS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR STATE BENEFITS

The Georgia Department of Labor is updating its current systems to distribute federal unemployment funds as part of the CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act, according to a press release from the GDOL. It will bring relief to many Georgians which are not eligible for unemployment benefits from the state.

Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, or PUA, is a program that will provide unemployment benefits to those not ordinarily eligible to receive them. That includes those self employed, gig workers, and 1099 independent contractors, as well as those with limited work history that would not qualify for benefits from the state. For more information about the program, visit the website of the Georgia Department of Labor at www.dol.georgia.gov.
