Communication is key when dealing with a health crisis such as the one that our community – and the world – now faces. Tim Herrington, Director of the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency, says that the coordination of local and state agencies’ efforts in the battle against the coronavirus pandemic are dependent on clear communication.
Herrington indicates that shortages in PPE – personal protective equipment – have drawn attention to the need to replenish the local and national stockpile bountifully in the unfortunate event that another pandemic like this one ever strikes again.
So many people have had to adapt in order to overcome the challenges posed by the coronavirus. For example, some US distilleries have begun to produce hand sanitizer. Herrington muses that we have all learned some great lessons throughout this pandemic.
These resources will be documented for incorporation into future emergency planning, adds Herrington.
