LATEST COVID-19 REPORT FROM THE DPH; GOVERNOR KEMP TO UPDATE GEORGIANS ON CORONAVIRUS THIS AFTERNOON

The Georgia Department of Public Health has reported that there were 18,489 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of 9:30 pm on Sunday night. There were a total of 689 fatalities due to the coronavirus. In Floyd County, there were 122 confirmed cases and eight fatalities. Fulton County led the state in number of confirmed cases with 2,131. The highest number of fatalities was reported in Dougherty County, which has had 90.

The DPH typically updates their COVID-19 daily status report twice per day – at noon and at 7 pm – to provide the most current numbers available. It may be viewed online at www.dph.georgia.gov.

Governor Brian Kemp will provide an update on COVID-19 this afternoon at the State Capitol in Atlanta. He will be joined by Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan, House Speaker David Ralston, the DPH Commissioner Dr. Kathleen E. Toomey, Georgia Emergency Management/Homeland Security Agency’s Director Homer Bryson, and the Georgia National Guard’s Adjutant General Tom Carden. This update is scheduled for 4 pm and will be live streamed via the Governor’s Facebook page.
