THE ARTS HAVE MUCH TO OFFER THOSE IN SEARCH OF A STRESS RELIEVING OUTLET AMID CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

The arts have much to offer those who are in search of an outlet to cope with the stress that has resulted from the coronavirus pandemic, attests Ali Booker, Executive Director of the Rome Area Council for the Arts (RACA). Creative endeavors allow people to express themselves and even take a break from the headlines. Booker states that Romans have taken to the internet with creative offerings, like online floral design classes from Bussey’s Florist and Gifts and musical snippets by the Rome Symphony Orchestra.

Some Romans are even using their creativity to sew masks for the healthcare workers who are on the frontlines in the battle against coronavirus, indicates Booker.

Booker hopes that locals will maintain their support of the arts at this crucial time when so many are financially challenged.

The goal of the Rome Area Council for the Arts, according to their website, is to help artists flourish. Through fundraisers and grants, they support exhibits, educational programs, public art projects and more. Learn more about RACA online at www.romearts.org.

RACA’s Firefly Fling 2020 that had been scheduled for last Friday night was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Booker says that the Fling will be back next Spring!
