More than 900 people have lost their lives in Georgia due to coronavirus, per the state Department of Public Health.
According to the latest report by the DPH, there were 23,481 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across this state as of 6:30 pm on Sunday evening. There were 916 deaths related to coronavirus. In Floyd County, there were 133 confirmed cases and 10 deaths. Fulton County led this state in the number of confirmed cases with 2,545. The highest number of fatalities was reported in Dougherty County, which has had 108.
The DPH usually updates their COVID-19 daily status report twice per day – at around noon and 7 pm – to provide the most current numbers. This report may be viewed online at www.dph.georgia.gov.
Governor Brian Kemp is slated to give a COVID-19 update this afternoon at the State Capitol. He will be joined by the DPH Commissioner Dr. Kathleen Toomey, Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency’s Director Homer Bryson, and Georgia National Guard Adjutant General Tom Carden. This update will get underway at 4:30 pm and will be live streamed on the Governor’s Facebook page.
