IT’S NATIONAL TRAVEL AND TOURISM WEEK! LOCAL ACTIVITIES DELAYED UNTIL SEPTEMBER

It’s National Travel and Tourism Week! The observance is spearheaded each year by the US Travel Association to celebrate the positive impact that travel has on the economy, businesses, and personal wellbeing.

The local celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week is being delayed until September due to concerns over coronavirus, says Kristi Kent, Director of Communications for the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism. Romans (and visitors) may take tours of local landmarks and partake in special activities at the Rome Area History Center (formerly Museum).

Tourism in Rome and Floyd County has taken a significant hit in recent days with the cancellation of big events such as the 2020 ACC Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships that were set for April. Kent hopes that those who had planned to visit will not cancel, but postpone their trip to our community.
