More than 35,000 people have been infected with COVID-19, and over 1,500 have lost their lives due to the virus in here Georgia, per the state Department of Public Health.
According to the latest report by the DPH, there were 35,427 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the state as of 7 pm on Wednesday evening. There were 1,517 fatalities related to coronavirus. Here in Floyd County, there were 166 confirmed cases and 12 deaths. Fulton County had the state’s highest number of cases with 3,614 and the highest number of fatalities with 152.
The Georgia Department of Public Health now updates their COVID-19 daily status report three times per day – at 9 am, 1 pm and 7 pm. It may be viewed online at www.dph.georgia.gov.
Governor Brian Kemp visited Floyd Medical Center in Rome on Wednesday. The purpose of his visit was to tour the mobile Intensive Care Unit provided by the Georgia Emergency Management/Homeland Security Agency, as well as the mobile hospital unit constructed in the two-story parking deck located on Floyd’s main campus, according to the hospital.
