The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Georgia is nearing 36,000, per the state Department of Public Health.
According to the latest report by the DPH, there were 35,977 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the Peach State as of 7 pm on Thursday evening. There were 1,544 fatalities related to coronavirus. Here in Floyd County, there were 169 confirmed cases and 12 deaths. Fulton County reported the state’s highest number of cases with 3,625 and the highest number of fatalities with 159.
The Georgia Department of Public Health now updates their COVID-19 daily status report three times per day – at 9 am, 1 pm, and 7 pm. It may be viewed online at www.dph.georgia.gov.
Rome and other communities around North Georgia were treated to a flyover on Thursday by a pair of C-130H3 Hercules aircraft. The flyover by the U.S. Air Force Reserve’s 94th airlift wing was intended as a salute to the healthcare workers, first responders, and essential workers on the frontlines in the battle against coronavirus.
