GBI SEEKS ASSISTANCE WITH INVESTIGATION INTO DISCOVERY OF BODIES UNDER ETOWAH BRIDGE

The two females whose bodies were found dead under a bridge off of Rome’s bypass earlier in the week have been identified.

Vanita Richardson, age 19, and Truvenia Clarece Campbell, age 30, (each of Rome) were found deceased under the Etowah Bridge off of Loop 1 this past Wednesday. A Georgia Bureau of Investigation medical examiner completed an autopsy on their bodies. The manner of death has been ruled as homicide. The GBI seeks assistance from the public with the investigation. Anyone that was traveling in the area and saw anything suspicious between Tuesday night at 10:30 pm and Wednesday morning at 11 am are urged to contact the GBI at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477) with any information pertinent to the investigation.

Vanita Richardson was slated to graduate next Saturday from Armuchee High School. According to a statement by Floyd County Schools, “We extend our deepest sympathies to the Armuchee Community and her friends and family at this time. Vanita will be remembered for being a fun-loving, humble, and motivated student who was making strong plans for her future. Even through the school closures, Vanita’s passing is felt by all.”

Richardson and Campbell were reportedly sisters.
