Protests have been held across the nation – including in our own community – in light of George Floyd, who was murdered by a law enforcement officer in Minnesota last Monday. Some protests have resulted in violence, although locals have demonstrated peacefully.
Floyd County Sheriff Tim Burkhalter commented on the matter via Facebook on Sunday. He concluded by saying, “What happened in Minneapolis should never happen again; changes will have to be made, and you bet they will. But destroying America by violence is not the way.”
