MORE THAN 52,000 GEORGIANS HAVE BEEN INFECTED WITH THE CORONAVIRUS

More than 52,000 Georgians have been infected with the coronavirus, as the death toll has passed 2,200, per the state Department of Public Health.

According to the latest report by the DPH, there were 52,497 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide as of 3 pm on Monday afternoon. There were 2,208 deaths related to the virus. In Floyd County, there were 326 confirmed cases and 15 fatalities. Fulton County had the state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 4,887 and fatalities with 256.

The Floyd County Courthouse remains closed until June 22nd, in accordance with an emergency order issued by J. Bryant Durham, Jr, Chief Judge of the Floyd County Superior Court, on Monday. A number of people who work at the courthouse on a regular basis have tested positive for COVID-19.
