ROME CITY, FLOYD COUNTY COMMISSIONS TO HOLD MEETINGS THIS WEEK; FLOYD COUNTY COURTHOUSE RE-OPENS

The Rome City Commission will gather this evening at 6:30 pm in the Sam King Room of City Hall, as well as via Zoom. The meeting will be streamed live on Facebook; search for City of Rome, GA – Government. A link to the agenda is posted on the Facebook page.

Floyd County Commissioners will meet in person on Tuesday at the county’s Administration Building on East 4th Avenue in downtown Rome. Their 6 pm meeting will be preceded by a caucus session at 5 pm.

County Commissioners will continue to ‘play it safe’ for this second in-person gathering, according to Commissioner Allison Watters.

Watters indicates that county officials have learned quite a lot throughout this pandemic, such as the benefits of working from home. She encourages locals to continue to take precautions to prevent community spread of the virus, like wearing a mask in public.

Live streaming of meetings via Facebook has drawn community engagement into county business. Watters hopes that this will continue.

The Floyd County Courthouse re-opens today. All persons entering either the Courthouse or Courthouse Annex will be required to wear a face mask.
