ROME CLOCKTOWER TOURS TO RESUME ON JULY 11TH, WHILE ROME AREA HISTORY CENTER SET TO RE-OPEN ON JULY 7TH

The Rome Area History Center will host the first Rome Clocktower Tours of 2020 on Saturday, July 11th.

Tours are typically held this time of year on the first Saturday of each month; this month’s tour is being held on the second Saturday since the first Saturday is a holiday, according to Kristi Kent, the Director of Communications for the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism. Entry is free, but tickets will be required to allow for social distancing inside the historic Clocktower.

Tickets may be reserved online at www.romegeorgia.org, as well as in-person at both Georgia’s Rome Welcome Center and Gift Shop locations on Jackson Hill at 402 Civic Center Drive and in downtown Rome at 300 West 1st Street. Tours will be held during 30 minute time blocks between noon and 2 pm. The tickets are only valid during the time block reserved.

The monthly Rome Clocktower Tours will resume on the first Saturday of the month in August and September.

In other news from the tourism office, the Rome Area History Center is slated to re-open on Tuesday, July 7th. New exhibits have been added, with more on the way, enthuses Kent. Visitors should practice safe social distancing and are requested to wear masks.

The public can learn about Rome’s history from its founding to current day at the Center, which is now managed by the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism. Its hours are 10 am until 5 pm every Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free of charge.
