FLOYD EMA DIRECTOR: BE PREPARED FOR SUMMER HEAT AS WE HEAD INTO JULY AND AUGUST

Northwest Georgia may not have had too many days with high temperatures into the 90s as yet in 2020, but this is the time to be prepared for extreme heat as we head into the month of July.

July and August are usually among the hottest months of the year in our area, says Tim Herrington, Director of the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency, who encourages the public to be prepared for it and keep a watchful eye on those most vulnerable to extreme heat, such as the elderly.

Here is a crucial reminder from Herrington in these summer months – never, never leave your pets or kids in a hot car.

Find tips on how to beat the summer heat via the Floyd EMA mobile app that is available through Google Play and Apple’s App Store. It is free of charge, enthuses Herrington.

Among the top tips for beating summer heat – stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water, even when you are not thirsty.
