CLOSE TO 107,000 GEORGIANS HAVE BEEN INFECTED WITH THE CORONAVIRUS, NEW TESTING HOURS ANNOUNCED FOR NWGA PUBLIC HEALTH

Close to 107,000 people in Georgia have been infected with coronavirus, per the state Department of Public Health.

According to the latest report from the DPH, there were 106,727 confirmed cases of COVID-19 statewide as of 3 pm on Thursday afternoon. There were 2,930 deaths related to the virus. In Floyd County, there were 670 confirmed cases and 15 fatalities. Gwinnett County reported this state’s highest number of confirmed cases with 10,415. Fulton County had the most fatalities with a total of 319.

The DPH’s Northwest Health District is changing the testing hours for its ten Northwest Georgia drive-up COVID-19 testing locations, this according to a media release. Beginning on Monday, July 13th, free testing will be available every Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until noon at health departments in Chattooga, Catoosa, Dade, Gordon, Haralson, Paulding, Polk, and Walker County. Free COVID-19 testing will continue to be offered Mondays through Fridays in Bartow County at the Clarence Brown Conference Center on GA-20 in Cartersville and Floyd County at West Rome Baptist Church located on Shorter Avenue in Rome. Testing will start daily at 9 am at both locations and will continue on a first-come-first-served bases as test supplies last. Saturday testing at certain locations will depend on test-supply availability and, when possible, will be announced locally.
