GRAVES HONORS REPRESENTATIVE JOHN LEWIS ON THE HOUSE FLOOR

Congressman Tom Graves, Representative for Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, joined fellow Georgia Congressman Sanford Bishop on Monday to lead a moment of silence on the floor of the US House of Representatives in honor of Congressman and civil rights leader John Lewis.

The bipartisan remembrance was accompanied by some remarks from Graves on the House floor about Lewis’ legacy, according to a media release from the office of Tom Graves.

Graves stated that it was Lewis who welcomed him to the well upon his own election to Congress.

Lewis will be remembered for his courage, as well as his kindness, asserted Graves, who also offered comfort to Lewis’ family.

John Lewis, who played a key role in the civil rights movement of the 1960s, passed away last Friday night at the age of 80.
