ROME CITY COMMISSION MEETS THIS EVENING, FLOYD COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WILL GATHER ON TUESDAY

The Rome City Commission is scheduled to meet this evening. The 6:30 pm meeting will be preceded by a caucus session at 5 pm at City Hall (or the City Auditorium) on Broad Street.

Commissioners will consider a proposed increase in starting pay for public safety employees like police officers, firefighters, and first responders. This is long overdue, asserts Commissioner Wendy Davis.

Floyd County Commissioners discussed law enforcement compensation at a called meeting last Friday.

A third and final hearing on the 2020 ad valorem tax mill rate will be held by City Commissioners at their meeting tonight, for which Davis encourages the public’s participation.

A link to the agenda and a live stream of the meeting is posted via the City of Rome, GA – Government page on Facebook. Davis indicates that locals may participate in-person or virtually.

The Floyd County Commission’s next regular meeting is set for this Tuesday at the county’s Administration Building on East 4th Avenue. They will gather in a caucus at 4 pm, which will be followed by their regular meeting at 6 pm. Both are open to the public. Attendees are asked to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
