BRAVES CONCLUDE SEASON-OPENING ROAD TRIP WITH LOSS TO RAYS AT TAMPA BAY

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Tampa Bay Rays 5-2 on Tuesday night in the finale of a two-game interleague set at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL. That led to a series sweep for the Rays, who have now won four consecutive games. The Braves concluded their season-opening road trip with a total of two wins and three losses.

Kyle Wright was tagged with the loss for Atlanta after giving up five earned runs along with four hits, walking three, and striking out three over only two and two-third innings.

The Rays scored all five of their runs in the bottom of the third inning, which included an RBI single from designated hitter Jose Martinez.

Martinez later notched the Rays’ fifth run of the third on a wild pitch by Josh Tomlin. Wright walked three of the first five batters that he faced during that inning.

The Braves will play their home opener against the Rays tonight. First pitch is set for 7:10 pm at Truist Park. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 5:55 pm from the Braves Radio Network.
