BRAVES EMERGE VICTORIOUS IN HOME OPENER OVER RAYS

The Atlanta Braves emerged victorious in their home opener by a final score of 7-4 over the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday evening at Truist Park. This allowed the Braves to end a two-game losing streak and marked the end of a four-game winning streak for the Rays.

Freddie Freeman led the charge with four hits to include a two-run homer that got the Braves on the board in the bottom of the third inning. It was Freddie’s first home run of the regular season.

Freeman also drove in a run in the sixth. It was a nice comeback for the first baseman, who struck out four times (as a designated hitter) in Tuesday’s loss at Tampa Bay (and recently recovered from coronavirus).

The Braves will conclude their interleague set versus the Rays this evening at Truist Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 pm. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 5:55 pm.

In other news from the Braves, Nick Markakis has announced that he doesn’t want to sit out the 2020 season after all. He is rejoining Atlanta for the rest of the season after declaring three weeks ago his decision to opt out of 2020 due to coronavirus concerns.
