BRAVES BEAT RAYS, SWEEP SERIES AT TRUIST PARK

The Atlanta Braves beat the Tampa Bay Rays 2-1 in the finale of a brief two-game interleague set at Truist Park on Thursday night, allowing the Braves to sweep that series. Atlanta’s sweep of the Rays followed a sweep by the Rays in a two-game set at Tampa earlier in the week.

Max Fried notched his first win of the season after giving up just one run and three hits, walking one and striking out seven over six and two-third innings. Mark Melancon picked up the save, his second of ’20.

Dansby Swanson got the Braves on the board with an RBI single that drove Marcell Ozuna to home plate in the bottom of the second inning.

Adam Duvall scored Atlanta’s second run of the night on a sac fly by Austin Riley in that same inning.

Ji-Man Choi had an RBI single in the top of the seventh to account for Tampa Bay’s only run of the night. Ryan Yarbrough was tagged with the loss.

The Braves will open a four-game set versus the New York Mets this evening at Truist Park. First pitch is slated for 7:10 pm. That game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 5:55 pm.
