AAA: GEORGIA’S GAS PRICES DECLINED SLIGHTLY DURING THE PAST WEEK

Georgia’s gas prices declined slightly over the past week, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group. Motorists statewide are now paying an average price of $1.99 per gallon of regular unleaded. That’s one cent less than a week ago, the same as last month, and 60 cents less than this time last year.

It now costs $29.85 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that’s $11.25 less than motorists paid in April 2019, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.74 a gallon.

Rome is among the least expensive metro markets in Georgia with an average of $1.92 per gallon.

AAA spokeswoman Montrae Waiters states, “Georgia pump prices are mostly pushing cheaper across the state as gasoline demand waned over the past few weeks. Until it appears that the threat from COVID-19 decreases, gas prices are likely going to continue shifting.”

Sunday’s national average of $2.18 a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was the same as last week, one cent more than last month, and 54 cents less than this time last year.
