DR. VOCCIO CONTINUES TO ENCOURAGE SOCIAL DISTANCING, MASK WEARING, AND HAND WASHING TO PREVENT SPREAD OF CORONAVIRUS

Dr. Gary E. Voccio, the Health Director of the Georgia Department of Public Health’s Northwest Health District, continues to encourage physical distance as a way to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The virus is very transmissible among large groups and is particularly dangerous to elderly people and those who are medically fragile. Therefore, Dr. Voccio urges Northwest Georgians to keep maintaining a safe social distance, wearing masks, and washing those hands.

The health department is poised to assist local school systems as students and teachers return to in-person instruction for the 2020-2021 school year, asserts Dr. Voccio, who also urges local high school football teams to be aware of the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 as they prepare to hit the field for their ’20 season.

The Floyd County Schools released an updated plan on Sunday for a return to in-person instruction; this ‘Return to Learn’ plan may be viewed on the Floyd County Schools, Georgia page via Facebook.
