SALVATION ARMY OF ROME GATHERS SCHOOL SUPPLIES IN THE ERA OF CORONAVIRUS

The Salvation Army of Rome wants to ensure that local students in need have school supplies for the 2020-2021 school year. The organization teamed with Walmart stores this past weekend to accept donations of school supplies from concerned citizens.

The 2020 “Stuff the Bus” effort was a little different than in years past, due to challenges presented by coronavirus, asserts Lieutenant Tim Blevins with the Salvation Army of Rome. A lack of face-to-face contact this year might have led to a decrease in donations, though Blevins was still pleased with results of the campaign.

The supplies were distributed on a drive-thru basis to Floyd County students on Tuesday. “Stuff the Bus” campaigns have additionally been conducted in Polk and Chattooga Counties.
