BRAVES DROP SERIES FINALE TO YANKEES IN NEW YORK

The Atlanta Braves fell to the New York Yankees 6-3 on Wednesday night in the finale of a two-game interleague set at Yankee Stadium in New York; that allowed the Yankees to sweep the series and marked the third straight loss for the Braves.

Atlanta jumped to an early lead on a two-run homer by Johan Camargo in the top of the second inning.

But the Yankees came charging back with back-to-back home runs from Gary Sanchez and Clint Frazier in the bottom of the second. They assumed the lead with two more runs in the fourth and added insurance with a couple of runs in the fifth. The Braves trimmed the Yanks’ lead with an RBI single from Travis d’Arnaud in the top of the ninth, but lost the game, again, by the final score of 6-3.

The Braves are now a third of the way through their 60-game season. They’ll take today off and return to action over the weekend with a three-game set in Miami versus the Marlins. Friday’s series opener is slated to get underway at 7:10 pm down at Marlins Park. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 5:55 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.

Atlanta is now 11-9 and one game behind the Marlins in the National League East standings. Miami is 8-4.
