AAA: GAS PRICES ROSE SLIGHTLY IN GEORGIA OVER THE PAST WEEK

Georgia’s gas prices increased slightly over the past week, according to AAA, The Auto Club Group. Motorists statewide are now paying the average price of $1.98 per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline. That’s a cent more than last week, three cents less than a month ago, and 50 cents less than this same time last year.

It now costs $29.70 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that’s $11.40 less than what motorists paid in April of 2019, when pump prices hit last year’s peak of $2.74 per gallon.

Rome was among the least expensive metro markets around Georgia at $1.91 per gallon.

Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA, asserts, “A modest increase at the pump for Georgia motorists this week. The good news is that gas continues to be fairly cheap. Georgians can fill-up for $2 per gallon or less at gas stations across the state.”

Sunday’s national average of $2.17 a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was the same as last week, three cents less than last month, and 46 cents less than this time last year.
