BRAVES BLANK MARLINS, TAKE SERIES

The Atlanta Braves blanked the Miami Marlins 4-0 on Sunday in the finale of a three-game set at Marlins Park, which allowed the Braves to take this series among rivals in the National League East, 2-1. That marked the end of a nine game road trip that resulted four wins and five losses for Atlanta.

Nick Markakis led the charge with three RBIs, including a two-run double in the Braves’ three-run seventh inning.

Atlanta pitchers joined forces to limit Miami to two hits. Starter Robbie Erlin surrendered just one hit, walked none, and struck out five over four scoreless innings of work. Darren O’Day was credited with the win.

The Braves are mere percentage points behind the first-place Marlins among the NL East standings. They will return to Truist Park this evening to open an eight game homestand with a division bout versus the defending World Series champion Washington Nationals. First pitch is slated for 7:10 pm. The game will be broadcast on WLAQ 1410 AM and 96.9 FM; air time is 5:55 pm.
