FLOYD COUNTY SCHOOLS TO CLOSE IN-PERSON LEARNING AND SWITCH TO VIRTUAL LEARNING

The Floyd County Schools will temporarily close in-person learning effective at the end of classes today, this according to a statement released on Thursday by the school system. The current plan is to resume in-person classes at all of the schools on Tuesday, September 8th.

The FCS statement also reads, “Please know that this change in scenarios for ALL schools is not due to a large increase in positive COVID-19 cases, but instead, because of new guidance from the governor’s office forcing FCS to change the status of essential workers.”

The students who had been learning in-person will stay at home as of the end of this school day until the scheduled reopening on September 8th. Teachers will report to school on Monday to begin providing instruction to the students remotely.

Since the re-opening of Floyd County Schools last Thursday, there have been over 10 positive COVID-19 tests confirmed among students and staff, which have led to two-week quarantines for over 350 students and employees.

The full statement has been posted to the Floyd County Schools, GA page on Facebook.
